Being the only techie in my family, I'm the go to guy for all technical inquiries... What kind of computer should I buy? How do you get program X to do activity Y? During the Hi Def format war of 2007, it was which format would I back? If I had a choice, what TV would I buy? Well, I finally have a definitive answer to the last question... with a budget of $1000, I bought the Sharp AQUOS 37" Widescreen LCD Television. From what I've seen and read, the Sharp AQUOS and Sony Bravia are two of the best televisions on the market and Sharp just happens to be the cheaper choice. I was looking at nothing less than a full 1080p display. I don't have a need for anything larger than a 42", but wouldn't go smaller than a 37". I need to be able to carry the thing up to my new second floor condo. My primary usage of a television is watching movies and playing games. And I already own a surround system. After a few days of searching I decided on the LC-37GP1U and after being turned away at Best Buy and Circuit City, I bought mine online through NewEgg.com with FREE shipping and NO tax (I have used NewEgg in the past and highly recommend them for tech purchases). UPS, understandably, required a signature for the delivery, and since I work during the day and did not feel like having them leave my TV downstairs for most of the afternoon, I opted to go pick it up last night. I called their service number and was told I could pick up the TV between 7:30 and 9:00 p.m. I arrived at the shipping center at 7:45, but the carrier was late, so I didn't actually leave with my TV until 9:15 p.m. So, no playing with my new TV last night. Can't wait until I get home tonight and get to hook everything up! =D (of course I unpacked it already, it's just not hooked up to anything)
On an unrelated note, Steph and I had dinner at Tapas Las Ramblas (on Clark, just south of Foster) last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good food, good portions, good atmosphere. Their shrimp cooked with crushed red pepper is amazingly good (even the oil and pepper sauce poured over bread is tasty).
