IPRO397 - Applications of Pervasive Computing: HawkTour

Fall 2004 - Xian-He Sun

During the Fall 2004 IPRO Day Conference, the HawkTour IPRO was Second Runner-Up in the Information Systems Research, Design and Process Improvement IPRO Track and Conference Runner-Up in Website Design.

Over the summer of 2004 and into the fall semester, Scarlet's integration had caused severe compatibility issues and has made it increasingly difficult to test and debug the HawkTour system. Therefore, the decision was made to remove Scarlet integration from the application and development continued without it. Much of the fall 2004 semester was spent implementing a new user interface, a new manager-based architecture, and adding a hardware interface to the HawkTour application. Our User Interface Design group provided important user analysis feedback that really brought the application up to a new level. Updated maps, graphics, and layouts gave the application a more professional look.

IPRO497 - Applications of Pervasive Computing: HawkTour

Spring 2005 - Xian-He Sun

During the Spring 2005 IPRO Day Conference, the HawkTour IPRO was Runner-Up in the Information Systems Research, Design and Process Improvement IPRO Track and Conference Winner in Website Design.

Spring 2005 marked the final semester the IPRO team devoted to the HawkTour project. There were many major concerns going into the semester. The team needed to implement a few new mapping features, iron out all the difficulties with the hardware interface, redesign the applications database to accomidate a new survey feature, and fix the location technology. Testing and development went hand-in-hand during this final push with group members jumping from development team to development team where needed. But, despite all the difficulties that arose during development, the IPRO team was able to complete a working version of the HawkTour application and were able to walk away from the project knowing a new challenge awaited their return in the fall.
